On the Blog: "We Tried it; You Might Like it!" Share your experience at the March meeting!

Share your experience or review at the March meeting
"WE TRIED IT, YOU MIGHT LIKE IT!!"

Have you recently created a quilt, a bag, or other sewing project based on a pattern you saw in a magazine, or online? Bought a new book filled with ideas?  Perhaps you took a class on Craftsy or other platforms.  Did you try a new tool that was supposed to save you time?

Did your project turn out exactly as you expected with no surprises along the way?  Did the tool or ruler perform as you thought?  Maybe, maybe not.

We are looking for objective reviews of patterns and products we’ve seen from posts on blogs, on IG, online classes, books, or magazines. Of course purchased patterns count as well.

For example, there was a craze last year to make the infamous Sew Together bag.  It was cute, it was useful, and it looked easy enough.  Not so much.  The instructions were confusing, and sometimes incomplete. The pattern wasn’t cheap.  It wasn’t for a novice bag maker, yet we persevered.  Hints and tips were posted, and success was achieved.  Its those hints and tips that we are looking for here.  Overcoming problems is a big part of success in any project.

We are looking for 4-6 people to create a review of a pattern, tool, or class along with creating a sample of a block based on the pattern.  If you make a bag, your opinion on interfacing choices and the results would be helpful.  You don’t need to finish the project for this discussion!!  (For example, a strap filled with Soft and Stable, vs a combo of pel-tex and fusible fleece).   We want to hear about your successes, stumbling blocks, and resources if you had to use them.

We would also like reviews of rulers or other tools you may have tried.  (ie Creative Grids Stripology Ruler, Quick Curve Ruler, or Hex n More, die cutter, etc)

We will provide a standardized review for you to use, and if there is a pattern or book that you’d like to try but don’t own yet, please reach out and let us know, because somebody probably has it and can lend it to you.

Presentations will be made at the March 20 meeting.  Your written review and photos will be saved in archives for downloads for anyone who missed the meeting or wants to review your notes.  We are looking for no more than 5-6 minutes of talk time at the meeting.

Interested in giving a review? -

Please reply to Debbie Pine at artdiva53@gmail.com if you are interested in presenting.  Include the product/project /class you are offering to review.  The review form will be sent to you within the next week or so.

We can't wait to hear from YOU!
