At our July 2015 meeting we encouraged folks to “get their curve on” through demos of three different techniques. We also want you to find what works for you, make a quilt and enter that quilt into a show!
Following is an opportunity to enter a regional exhibit that is co-curated by Chicago Modern Quilt Guild and the Naperville Modern Quilters Guild for the International Quilt Festival Chicago show .
Modern Quilters Challenge: Drunkard’s Path Block.
Entry deadline: Jan 2016
Size: 36 inches square (no bigger or smaller)
Block to interpret: Drunkard’s Path
To make a quilt using the Modern Quilt aesthetic by interpreting the block “Drunkard’s Path”. This curved block is all the rage right now in modern quilting, and this is your chance to do a modern version of this classic block.
Keep in mind the hallmarks of modern quilting when designing your quilt: improvisation, use of negative space, minimalism, high contrast, and bold graphics and colors.
Open to residents of Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota. Please create a new quilt for this challenge using the challenge rules and size. The entries may be juried for space constraints.
When IQF has officially published the challenge we will post a link.
