October Meeting Holiday Gift Planning

We had a great meeting Sunday October 21st.  At the meeting we had members present on different kinds of little Holiday Gifts.
Sarah S teaching us how to make awesome Drawstring Bags

Jen and Eileen showed us how to make Mug Rugs and Potholders.

Erika showing us her awesome t-shirt scarves (and how to make them).

Holly and her coffee sleeves.

Donna had a lot of ideas for card cases and sewing kits.

Tricia brainstormed some ways of making fabric storage.

Thanks to all of the members who prepared demos for our meeting I know we all learned a lot!  At the meeting we also started a gift swap.  If you would like to participate all you have to do is make a small gift based on one of the demos from the meeting and bring it to the December meeting where we will swap presents.  The presents should be made so as to appeal to any person in our guild (you are free to make more than one then you would receive the amount of gifts you made).

Check out some details on how to do some of the projects under the Files Tab on our Bigtent Site.

We talk together on Bigtent, it is the place to learn all about upcoming meetings and other activities among our members.  Join us!

On the Road!

Here are all 25 quilts from the Modern Art Challenge we started in June and finished in August.  Guild member Sara Hochhauser shared this challenge with The Original Sewing And Quilt Exposition organizer Marlene.  And we have received an invitation for these quilts to be a part of their traveling show for the next year.

Go to the website and check it out.  They will be in Tinley Park November 15 - 17 and in Schaumberg April 4 - 6.    What a great opportunity to visit the works of these 24 members of the guild:  Kate Collinson, Sally Prokupec, Rachel Rivera, Terri Karls, Beth Kovacic, Donna Moscinski, Sara Hochhauser, Melissa Bogusch, Ebony Love, Judy Tucker, Eileen O'Regan, Sue Ryan, Emily Bruzzini, Jennifer Benoit Bryan, Mary Pustekovsky, Linda Marcangelo, Jennifer Lowe, Mark Cramer, Sarah Shulman, Natalie Granato, Emily Lang, Cathy Sisko, Reneau Diallo, and Marla Margalewski.

Huge thanks to Emily Bruzzini and Emily Lang for shaping this first-time challenge, establishing the guidelines, and executing this.
